The Residence
A porch first,then a house.

The front is organised around a deep covered porch carried on posts set into masonry piers. Dormers break the roof so the upper line never runs unbroken across the elevation. Black windows and black garage doors keep a traditional form from reading as dated — symmetrical without being stiff.

Design Notes
What makes it work.
01

Depth is what makes a porch real.

Anything shallower than about eight feet is a covered entry, not a porch. This one is sized to hold furniture, which is the only test that actually matters.

02

Posts that sit on something.

Columns land on masonry piers rather than dying into a deck board. It is how porches were built before they became decorative, and it is why the proportions read correctly from the street.

03

Dormers as rhythm.

Roof breaks across a long elevation keep the eye moving. Without them a roof this wide flattens into a single grey plane no matter what colour it is.

04

Black as the discipline.

Windows, garage doors and roof all land on the same black. Holding one dark tone across every opening is what separates this from every other white farmhouse on the road.

Build somethingremarkable.

We never build the same house twice. If you have land, drawings, or simply the beginning of an idea, we would like to hear about it.
